the taste and texture, and the crunchiness of fresh homemade granola is so very different than prepackaged granola
also homemade granola is much more economical to make than store bought granola
this granola can be made to suit special diet needs (such as wheat-free or nut allergies) or tailored to your taste and favorite ingredients … (I love seeing what's in the pantry to make a special batch)
a fun, easy recipe to make with children…. they will enjoy scooping, measuring, pouring, mixing and of course tasting.
Here is the recipe.
This recipe is originally from
The Silver Palate.
- 3 cups oats
- 1 cup chopped almonds, pecans, walnuts or any combination of your favorite
- 1 cup or any combination of dried fruit (cranberries, golden raisins, apricots, dates, cherries, blueberries, etc)
- 1 Tablespoon Vanilla
- 1 Tablespoon Cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup packed Brown Sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1 cup Pure Maple Syrup (adjust to taste)
we love eating this granola with yogurt and fresh fruits and berries… enjoy!
