(glimpses) - on a wave

in a different life, we live among the palms and not canopied oaks and maples

where even stormy skies and seas come in shades of blues unimagined and beautiful...

the storms pass quickly here unlike the way they do at home ...

and kind sentinels stand watch as we play in the coming waves ...
and inthis beautiful way (in these few short days away)  a girl turns one year older and closer to becoming who she will be ...happy summer all!

(glimpses) - fly away

head in the clouds, feet in the sand, moving along the shore in the motions of a ....

sandpiper at the edge of water and racing away from the incoming wave

she watches as the sun moves below the horizon with one last look into the wide ocean and an even wider sky

thoughts of other days, years as a child of many ages who had been here before playing at the edge of the vast atlantic...

and to think this good kid has reach yet another milestone of 14!

(at the workbench) - mrs strawberry arrives ...

you can tell when the lilacs are out, it's not long until mrs strawberry's much anticipated arrival ...

all the stories told about our life as giants can be revisited again where we find wild strawberries hidden in plain sight at our feet ...

spring is moving into full bloom, we are not too far from those long summer days and beautiful sun-warmed strawberries...

hope you have a wonderful long memorial day weekend!

ps. mrs strawberry now joins mrs acorn, mrs hazelnut, and forest mama...  who should be next? let me know who you think!

(glimpses) - days like these

how is it that summer once stretched out with many, long days ...

and now all those places not so near, but still not so far are blending together ...

even on cue,  the nights are already cooling and the fan that sat steady-fast in the open window has been turned off and on the stove a little bit of magic .... as an early glimpse of autumn color sits on my kitchen counter ...

but even with summer vacation just ended.... a few more days of late summer might sill be here

(glimpses)- life under the sea and other adventures

over land and water this past week ..
we happily say hello to summer from a mountain top...

and with an early summer's adventure watching the tide come in ...

we find ourselves walking the ocean floor ...

and then back again we travel with the outgoing tide ...

along the shore to place we now know and love ...

(at the workbench) - summer thoughts

how unbelievably lush the world is turning ...

in between projects, many days of unending rain, and all the end of school year activities

all has turned green upon green  upon green...

in a big, bushy, overgrown kind of way ....in all the excitement of the growing heat of the day ....

some seasons (like spring) always seem to disappear before I'm quite ready to say goodbye

all the same, the thought of summer picnics and the long stretching evening light .... I feel myself breath out, knowing our days will grow long with time to spend with friends ....

hope you have a wonderful long weekend! :)

(glimpses) - further adventures of life as a giant

The morning glories had been overlooking the garden for sometime now ...watching the days grow shorter  ... and giving thought to the weather and the changing seasons ...

(though in truth more time has gone by then this picture will tell... and first frost are not always kind )

the ground has not been dry for nearly a month ... and how is it that bystanders can stand up to the winds of hurricanes, storms and first frost I don't know...

all summer ... I had been looking for them....I had seen them many times moving quietly  below my footsteps with their littlle leaps

and they had gone running before my camera could keep them in a picture for you ... very little and hardly as big as a cricket....among the ferns and raised beds

I had seen them busy no doubt in search of a meal and hiding from my ground quaking footstep..

... so while the sun was still bright and the last black-eyed susans shining...

at last here ....I am sharing my further adventures of life as a giant ..
.
even as the fierce weather had arrived with summer exit and autumn arrival....
